A brief tribute to Sam from Joy (sister in law): Sam was a warm person and he always gave me a big hug. One of the things that I remember him telling me, that exemplifies his kindness, was that he picked up an elderly lady and took her to the Baptist Church with him regularly. He will be missed, Joy

A brief tribute from Roy, Sam’s older brother: I have known Sam all of his life and I cannot remember having a cross word or disagreement with him. I put this down to his loving parents May & Samuel Hill and the faith he imbibed in his formative years at St Saviours Church, Charlton-on-Medlock, Manchester. A kind and loving man. He is greatly missed. Roy.

Sam, we have loved knowing you all these years and spending many occasions together during that time. These are just some of those memories, two older, you picking the girls up in the orange Skoda and their reaction to you parking it right outside the school gates - hilarious! The time a group of us got caught by a car driver 'misbehaving' in the road (hard to believe I know) whilst walking home, late one evening, from a local social event when you were still in a wheelchair recovering from your Achilles tendons operation and realising the car driver was, my daughter, who then told us all off - scary! And a more recent one, not so long before the 'lockdowns', when a group of us had a really lovely evening playing skittles and laughing all together. Sam, we will miss you a lot, Charles and Julie X
